Doom the Perceptive

As Doom has correctly perceived, Pretty Lady now has a Boutique! It is so brand new that the paint is barely dry; check back often for improvements. Pretty Lady has decided to go the Crass Commercialism route, frankly, because she has to. It is a fine thing to starve on one's own, but when other people are involved, the issue of Ethics rears its formidable head. Creditors must be paid, and dependents must be nurtured.

You will also notice that "Donate" buttons are yellowly scattered throughout; this is to remind all you darlings that if you feel that Pretty Lady's words have been of value to you in some way, then you are free to emphatically express this in concrete terms. This is, of course, an entirely voluntary option, and rest assured that Pretty Lady will continue blathering away for free, as long as she feels like it.

And there it is, my all-time favorite of your paintings, right on top! WHEE!!!

FWIW, I think you're doing the right thing. Not just because bills do need to get paid, but because that crass commercialism does get the beautiful images out there in the first place. When people wear your stuff, it advertises it.

That's a good thing in the end. In light of that good ol' boy bit, what better way to do an end run?

Oh, it's BEAUTIFUL!!!

Another of my favorite pieces of yours is just a sketch - the scorpion posted earlier on, I think, in your art blog.

Maybe it's just my love of scorpions. But that one really grabbed me, and I believe it did so on some deeper level than ordinary scorpion admiration.

Oh, commercialism! My my, to think money has to be produced somehow, the... the notion! I hope you never find out about babies if you think this is bad.

I suppose I shouldn't tease so, but, you started it.

Dependents.

This recalls to my mind a comment you left at Vox's place.

Are you...expecting?

Who says mocking does not prove it's own point. DC, yes, I wondered myself. I just dig a little more... well, I dig in my own way. Though I must admit to being a bit disappointed if true, about life I never find true disappointment though, oddly. Oh hush, I am.

What is up with American Genius? Is he retarded, or am I? Hey, cannot help that a child of God would ask. Just answer, so that I might know what I deal with. No woman answer is graded, they truly, and often, are given a pass for what they offer. Blend that into cosmic soup and... enjoy. Really really!

Heh. Doom is feeling a bit punchy this early AM?

It appears to me that the Genius is attempting to curry favor with The Lady by the time-tested technique of fawning praise. Men do have a historical tendency to get a bit retarded in the presence of the divinely feminine.

Hey, guys, quit ragging on my disciple. I feel almost like a University Art Professor, having a handsome, ambitious young artist following me around, hanging upon my every word!

Oooh, maternity shirts. Hmm. Can I tweak that budget . . . Except I'll only wear it for six months more. Maybe better to just get a regular one and wait. But which one? You can't give me easy choices, can you?
Are you going to put up more? Should I wait to decide? I really, really, like the blue mandela.

Boysmom, I shall be putting up more all the time--in fact, I have a Design of the Week plan cogitating. Feel free to make suggestions. I am already working on k's scorpion.

Pretty Lady, I have mostly come to a conclusion, but do you know how true the colors on the screen are to reality? At least in comparason to each other?
It's definitely the blue mandala. I showed my husband last night, he said: "I think it would look great with you in it!" isn't he awesome? I should mention that I am at that stage of pregnancy where I look fat, not pregnant. But I'm trying to decide on the background color: light blue, violet, or black. Not white--white makes my eyeballs look yellow. Since you're the artist, have you a suggestion?

I wish you would put up some like Cathedral, Desert, or Thistle as prints. I know it would be nice if we would buy the originals, but I've only ever spent that kind of money on my 'cello. Sorry. I know you need rich patrons, not broke fans.
I would also buy a selection of art--a variety pack, if you will--on notecards. Actually, probably two--thank you cards are, of course, mandatory (thank you, Mom, whom we joke could teach etiquite to Miss Manners) and thus blank cards make for good gifts.

Pretty Lady said...

Thanks for the suggestions, Boysmom! I will do that!

If you like the blue mandala, I would recommend getting it on black. Color can vary from monitor to monitor, and since cafepress does the printing, I don't know yet how their images look from my files. So black is probably the safest--the original painting contains a huge range of blues, purples, pinks, and greens already.

Great store! The designs are fabulous.

Pretty Lady,
I have placed my order--the blue mandela on the black t-shirt. I will let you know how it looks when it arrives! I'm quite excited. I'm cheap when it comes to shipping so it'll be a week. Maybe even longer than that: all the roads here are closed. Our friends who came to the pool pre-grand opening last night and live out of town couldn't even get home at eight when it was over! Gotta love winter. I suspect my shirt will get to sit in Denver for a while.

Thank you, Boysmom! I am eager for your feedback. I am uploading the highest-quality images the system will support, but it is difficult to know how they will come out in physical form.

Oh, this is so exciting! Boysmom, you'll let us know how it looks, I hope.

And your guy does sound JUST right.

How often does that happen, huh?

DC, not five minutes ago, I opened an email from kmom containing some very cute pix of mr. Borat in a green neon over-the-shoulder thong at the beach at Cannes.

My goodness.

It did not have any artwork printed upon it. Not that I could determine, at least, even after careful examination.
