This is 'Politicians Are Disgusting' Week

Pretty Lady asks you to watch this video.

She then asks: Why was the gentleman arrested before he was asked, courteously and decisively, to be brief?

Why did the arresting officers feel a need to pull a gun on an obviously unarmed gentleman, when he was already outnumbered four to one?

Why does a former Presidential candidate have insufficient presence of mind, ethical clarity and personal charisma to request that the police desist from brutalizing the person with whom he is currently conversing?

Why do some citizens of this country feel that it is Irrational and Out Of Line to resist, when a group of police officers come up out of nowhere and attempt to cart you off to who knows where, for no reason, while in the midst of an interesting and non-violent conversation?

Why do the vast, vast majority of citizens of this country sit passively by while the police randomly brutalize an individual in their midst?

Pretty Lady must repeat herself: icky-poo.

Horrendous, but not surprising, unfortch. The police are quick to tase these days. Clearly this guy is an instigator, and a doofus, (see ABC news.com: "Meyer has his own Web site and it contains several "comedy" videos that he appears in. In one, he stands in a street with a sign that says "Harry Dies" after the latest Harry Potter book was released. In another, he acts like a drunk while trying to pick up a woman in a bar. The site also has what is called a "disorganized diatribe" attributed to Meyer that criticizes the Iraq war, the news media for not covering the conflict enough and the American public for paying too much attention to celebrity news.") but, freedom of speech people!!!!! Makes me so angry...angry enough that I HAD to use multiple exclamation points, which I normally abhor.

A lot of people are upset by this video, but the thing that upsets me most is here's this guy being attacked by security -- that's campus police in the video, not actual police -- and he's yelling "HELP!" repeatedly, AND NO ONE'S HELPING. Particularly John Kerry. I would've liked to have seen him run down off the stage and start pulling guards off the guy. But I guess that's too much to ask from an aging war hero.

Why? Oh why?

Baa!

Because it ees not acczeptable to rezist zee Powers of zee STADT!

Politicians are just players in the game. There has been a hard lurch statist-ward in society in the last few years, and the worst scenarios of the moonbattiest tinfoil hatters begin to look less and less outlandish to me...

Big Cat got it in one. We've been well and truly programmed not to resist. What do you think state schools and colleges are for - to learn the 3 Rs? There is that, but mainly it's to program people to be obedient to the state and to the corporate mentality.

Before we start getting all fin de siecle here, I do think it's worth pointing out that this was a college campus, so presumably a good number of people knew the guy getting the beatdown, or were at least familiar with him, and probably were happy to see it happen. Lord knows there were people in college who I'd never have helped if I saw them getting their ass kicked.

Still, I find it disturbing. That and the many people you can see filming the event. Everyone's a witness, no one's a participant.

They came for the Meyers and I wasn't a Meyer, so I did nothing...

At last, they came for me and there was no one left to do anything for me...

Or something like that.

And then there is...
Campus security: Almost like real work.

But wasn't John Kerry one of the Swiftie heroes of Cambodia? Courageously requesting medical assistance for shellcase-inflicted wounds? And now we get to witness his heroism. And he didn't even have to film a re-enactment. It almost makes me feel better about voting for the other guy. (Almost.)

Please tell me you didn't fall for that Swift Boat Veterans crap.

It was Mister Kerry who made his "war hero" status the centerpiece of his campaign, and it was Mister Kerry who could have put the issue for rest, once and for all by signing his SF-180 as he promised to do on national television, and as most war hero politicians are more than happy to do.

If one wishes to put the line to a bunch of vicious untrue rumors, one does not generally skulk around and avoid the issue, but strides forth boldly with the truth and declares, "Here, bitches!".

Believe what you will.

What Swift Boat veterans crap? They are more credible than Kerry. In case you didn't know, their leader, John O'Neill, supported Al Gore in 2000. He believed (presumably believes) Bush is an empty suit. But he knew that Kerry was full of it, and he didn't want to watch Kerry ride to political victory on his Vietnam "hero" story again. So, why shouldn't I buy it? Don't tell me you fell for John Kerry's line of crap. That would be truly pathetic.

John O'Neill and his buddy Jerome Corsi are also convinced the U.S. government is laying the groundwork for combining the currency of Canada, America, and Mexico into the Amero. O'Neill is a nut.

Perhaps. He does know the truth about Kerry, though. And he told it.

Chris Rywalt said...

Or he's a deranged veteran encouraged by unscrupulous anti-Kerry forces.

Listen, I'm not a huge fan of John Kerry by a long shot. But let's give the guy his due: He fought bravely in Vietnam and was brave enough to tell the truth about that war when he got home. Which is a lot more than the Current Occupant managed.

How a draft dodger managed to impugn the record of a bona fide war hero will always amaze me.

If you want a brave Vietnam vet, go with John McCain. (As far as that goes, if you want a brave War of Independence vet, go with Benedict Arnold. If you don't believe me, look it up.) All we know about Kerry's service is that he refuses to release his medical records from the time he served in the military.

And what "truth" did young John share with the country? That he and all of his fellow U.S. service members were a bunch of crazed murderers and rapists? No, I don't think he told the truth. I was too young for that conflict, but I have friends whose fathers served over there. If you think Kerry told the truth about that war, you are the deranged one.

I'm all for John McCain the war hero. I'm just not all that find of John McCain the waffler.

...are also convinced the U.S. government is laying the groundwork for combining the currency of Canada, America, and Mexico into the Amero.

Right-o. And there's no evidence for that either, is there Chris?

Chris Rywalt said...

Actually, no, there isn't,
